Data sheet
Take a copy of my family records sheet and fill it in as you find things out.
Civil records
Find the records you're interested in at the FreeBMD web site. Then order the certificates from the GRO (you can also search the indexes there).
General genealogy sites
These sites will give you access to BMD searches and also the censuses. Most of them will also have various other useful data sets like parish records or military records.
